Hotel La Cisterna
The building is an old palace of the XIIIth century.
Built on a hill overlooking the Val d’Elsa valley, S. Gimignano is one of the main tourist attraction for those who want to visit the Chianti zone, also thanks to its position at the very centre of the triangle Siena-Florence-Volterra.
The Hotel consists of fifty rooms, each one furnished in Florentine style and with facilities, some of our rooms have got a nice view on the square or on the Tuscan country-side.
The Salvestrini family and the Hotel staff work together with professionality in order to offer our guests a kind hospitality. Our purpose is to make our guests feel as they were at home.
The Bar, located in the Hall of the XIVth century, is at the ground floor of the Hotel. It is open every day from 3 PM to 12 PM.
During the Bar’s opening time, you can ask at the Reception Desk ( directly or by dialling ‘9’) for room service.
We serve Aperitifs, Cocktails and Grappe. We also offer a wide tasting of typical local wines such as Vernaccia ( white dry wine made in S. Gimignano) and Chianti Colli Senesi.
You can also ask for a documentary about S. Gimignano and watch it at our private TV.
We have got a small room where you can play chess or cards.
The Restaurant “Le Terrazze” started in 1918.
Sited at the first floor of the building, it is open every day from 12:30 AM to 2:30 PM for lunch, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM for dinner; and it is closed the whole day on Tuesdays and only for lunch on Wednesdays.
Our cuisine is based on the typical Sangimignanese and Tuscan gastronomy, which goes from the simplest dishes to the most refined ones.
It links together the tasting of foods to a wide selection of wines, both local and national.
The Restaurant consists of two rooms, one of which is called “Loggia Rustica”, due to the style inn which it is built.
Once seated at the table, one can enjoy a wonderful sight of the landscape, ranging from the medieval towers to the Val d’Elsa valley and the Chianti hills.
I Guests of the Hotel can ask for Half-Board service. It is advisable to book in advance.
Breakfast is included in the price of the room. It is served from 7:30 to 10:00 AM in the panoramic rooms of the Restaurant.
The continental buffet offers a wide selection of salted and sweet products such as cheeses, salami, smoked- ham, croissants, jams, honey, yogurt, fruits, fruit-salad.
During winter we can accept work meetings for a maximum of 40 people.
