Villa Milani
Situated a few kilometers from the historical centre of Spoleto, in a splendid position that dominates the town, surrounded by eight hectares of natural meadows and woods, the Villa has been ably restored by Giovanna Milani and Luigi Capobianchi to be turned into a first-rate hotel that combines the unchanged original characteristics, with all the comforts of home accompanied by warm hospitality.
Built in 1880, the villa was the country residence of the architect Giovanni Battista Milani, one of the most important exponents of Roman architecture of the first decades of the twentieth century , who enlarged and enriched it according to the classical-renaissance characteristics of the time, enriched it with his own refined taste and passion for ancient art.
The Salon
The refined architectural "pastiche" created by architect G.B: Milani is emphasised by the eclectic Salon and its marvellous lacunar ceiling with fine gold decorations, the monumental sixteenth - century fireplace and the magnificent seventeenth - century portal on which the latin motto Pacem Natura Quaero stands out. Precious antique furniture, valuable paintings and an impressive library rich in eighteenth and nineteenth - century architectural books are part of the luxurious furnishings of the Salon.
In such an ambience, and on special occasions like New Year's Eve or Easter, our guests can enjoy the suggestive nineteenth-century atmosphere of chamber music concerts. From the Loggia, finely decorated with the frescos by Antonino Calcagnadoro you can enjoy the picture postcard view of Spoleto and the medieval villages which skirt Assisi valley, Trevi, Spello, Montefalco and Assisi in the distance on the slopes of Monte Subasio.
The Garden
The eighteen- century portal of the Salon opens on a nice Italian garden with flowerbeds of antique roses, lavender and agapantus, surrounded by box hedges. The garden is embellished by some Renaissance works such as a marble fountain and a travertine balustrade which seems to protect a panoramic view, characterised by a mythological statue under an age-old yew.
A capital resting on a basalt column and a milestone, both dating back to the Roman age, give to the garden the same charming eclecticism characterising the Salon. In summer, this area is the ideal place to enjoy "en plain air" the delicious breakfast buffet or the excellent food from the "Piccola Carta" for lunch or dinner.
The Swimming Pool
The swimming pool of Villa Milani, overlooking the green meadows and the woods of Monteluco valley, is a spectacular scenery for relaxing moments.
Built in the ground, with an irregular shape and a natural stone trampling, embedded in a meadow surrounded by wild roses, rosemary and pomegranate trees, the swimming pool gives the suggestive sensation of being in a green open space "leaning" over the valley.
Our guests can relax enjoying a pleasant water massage and air jets in our circular hydromassage bath tube accessible from the swimming pool.
The Terrace
Adorned with mythological statues which seem to admire the gentle Umbrian countryside, the terrace of Villa Milani offers to our guests an extraordinary panorama. The view of the imposing Ponte delle Torri, of the majestic Rocca Albernoziana, of the palaces and the shapes of the bell towers of Spoleto together with the view of Assisi valley, skirted by medieval villages and in the distance Mount Subasio create a beautiful natural scenery.
In summer the Terrace is the ideal place for happenings en plain air, cocktail parties, lunch and concerts.
Breakfast
Breakfast is our principal service of your stay at Villa Milani. It is included in the daily room rate and it is arranged on an antique table, overlooked by an impressive 19th century mirror. From 8.30 am to 10.30 am, guests can choose among a wide variety of cold & hot drinks, freshly made breads and pastries. It may be served in the dining rooms, in the garden on beautiful ceramic tables from Deruta or, on request, in the privacy of their bedrooms.
During low season, or when the number of guests allows it, Villa Milani proposes the "Personalized Breakfast", where the waiting staff takes personal care of the individual guest. We serve rolls, brioches and pastries freshly baked in the owen oven only minutes before the time requested by the guest.
Light Lunch & Bar
Light Lunch and Bar are the Restoration Services the guests can avail of wherever they are: in the salon (only bar), dining rooms, Italian garden or swimming pool. In the period May - September, from 12.00 am to 3.00 pm, Light Lunch Service propose a Menu based on fresh summer dishes. From 7.30 am to 12.00 pm all year long, the Bar Service proposes a wide range of drinks (soft, alcoholic, spirits, cocktails and wines) with snacks.
The Villa Milani's well-stocked cellar propose for our guests a Carte of Wine based on a wide selection of vintage Wines, coming from many regions of Italy, mainly Umbria. At Light Lunch, or whenever during the day, guests can ask waiters for the preferred wine and taste it with snacks such us special cheeses, chestnut honey and various types of mustards.
Special Events
The "Exclusive Villa", with its atmosphere of uniqueness and discretion, is the ideal stage for Special Events, based on "high quality / small number" of partecipants, like Top Management Meetings, Special Anniversaries and private Wedding Receipt.
The "Exclusive Villa" formula put to complete disposal of the event all the indoor areas (salon and dining rooms), the outdoor ones (garden, pool and terrace), the 11 bedrooms for the guests' stay, as well as the whole Villa Milani Organization Service.
