Trento is located in Trentino, one of Italy's northern provinces and part of the Trentino region which is bounded to the north by Austria and Switzerland, to the west by Lombardy and to the east by Veneto. Surrounded by the Alps, it is widely regarded as one of the most scenic areas of Europe. It is an ideal town for a few days sightseeing among its many museums and castles. Trento is also the ideal starting point for day trips to the more famous neighbouring towns and cities, such as Verona, Venice and Milan, or to the surrounding countryside where a visit to the spectacular Monte Bondone is not to be missed.
